ad infinitum: endlessly, forever, without limit

Finally freed from a century in purgatory, former-wild child Aisling just wants to raise her son and live as a normal human again. Her taste of freedom is cut short the moment her past comes to claim her. There’s one reason she was exiled, and his name is Cain. With him, there was only darkness, and the angels help her, she liked it that way. Now he’s back, and his commands are simple. Stay away from Sean or else. But when he threatens to take her son, she turns to the one man who can save them both. Sean.
Sean is sick and tired of his baby mama’s hateful attitude. Her mood swings give him whiplash, and he’s seriously thinking of strangling her. But when a brutal old enemy shows up to destroy everyone Sean loves, he discovers Aisling is hiding more than her feelings for him.
Joining forces to protect their son, Sean and Aisling set out on a journey that leads them from the city streets of Manhattan to the elegant hotels of Vienna to the final terrifying showdown in the bowels of Rome.

  Excerpt
Scooping her up, Sean urged, “Come on, baby. We need to move.”
With that warning, he tucked her close and flashed them backwards. The turret tumbled into a pile of dusty debris. The hotel’s alarm system went ballistic.
“Holy fuck! Look what we did!” She couldn’t help stating the obvious. She was too surprised to believe it.
They’d broken the building. Not a bed. No. They broke the damn building. Shit. Someone was going to be pissed. With her arms around Sean’s neck, she dropped a kiss on his cheek. God, he was sexy as friggin’ hell. Scruffy shadow on his jaw, eyes blue as the ocean again, and his muscles rippling from carrying her butt around... Yeah. HOT! Not to mention the extra helping of testosterone that not only made him Stamina Man but made him hard again already.
Reaching down to fondle the velvety heat, she felt the sticky reminder of what they’d just done. “Seriously, did our orgasm just break this building?”
Grinning like a naughty little boy, he wagged his head in disbelief. “I always wondered what would happen if we fucked in combat mode. This is the first time for me. Intense.” Dipping his head, he caught one of her nipples in his mouth and mumbled around it, “Let’s do it again. I’m still burning up.”
She wrapped her fist around his cock and nearly swooned at the instant hardness. God, she’d missed fucking.
Chuckling in her ear, he murmured, “Don’t worry. There’s no daily limit.”
“Don’t you want a shower? I feel like I smell.”
Still carrying her, he moved further away from the debris. “You do. You smell like a woman who’s just been thoroughly fucked by a man who’d give his left nut to do it again.”
Hefting her higher, he caught her mouth in a long, slow kiss that stole her breath away. When he let her up for air, she dabbed at his bottom lip, and said, “Keep your nuts. This one’s on the house.”

Author Interview

First, tell me a little about your book and why you wanted to write this particular story….
Darkness Calling is the fifth book in my Primani Series. It’s a stand-alone title that tells both Sean and Aisling’s backstories and brings them together in the present. Sometimes there is a story that screams to be written, begs to see the light of day. This is one of them. Sean and Aisling are two very intense characters that readers have already met. Sean is one of my core Primani and my favourite hero. He can be a total dick, but that’s his way of hiding the pain inside. I’ve tortured him in the first four books to see what he would do. He always comes out stronger. Aisling has had a nightmare of a life--both as a human and an immortal Primani. They share nothing except a son they created in one night of passion. I wanted to see if I could bring these two characters together to unite them as lovers, but also as parents to one very special child. It was my challenge to create a story that my diehard Sean fans would accept. I think I’ve hit the mark with D/C and am hoping no one sends me hate mail!

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know?
I dabbled as a young teenager but never finished anything. I mostly wrote bloody angst-filled poetry that frightened my mother. I was a big Poe fan! After that, life got in the way, and I forgot about writing until just a few years ago. I’m a single mom and like most parents, I was uber busy. But once my son was a teenager and I had finished my education, I was bored! I read a lot and realized I had a lot of stories floating around in my mind. After I devoured every book I was interested in, I decided to create my own world and thus, the Primani Series was born!

What inspired you to write your first book and what was it?
My first book is Primani. I served in the U.S. Air Force and was based in Plattsburgh, New York for five years. Those were some of the best years of my life. I wanted to capture the adventure of those years and introduce the world to upstate New York in all its snowy, mountainous glory. It’s funny how the mind works though. I intended to tell a story about a teenaged girl who loses everything, including her faith, only to be saved by a guardian angel. He leaves her healed and ready to face life. End of story. Um, yeah...yawn! By the time I was only halfway finished with the first book, I’d totally changed directions. I ditched the guardian angel, added all of the paranormal elements, and created the Primani world full of psychics, angels, and demons. My Primani are so far from guardian angels they might as well be mercenaries. Mica’s single book turned into The Lost Soul Trilogy which follows her transformation from a typical young woman to an immortal with a huge destiny.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
I wish! In Darkness Calling, Aisling has a delicious hot affair with my favourite demon, Cain. I can only say how much I WISH those scenes were based on my experiences! Whew!

How do you choose when/which characters die in your books?
This isn’t usually a conscious choice. As the story flows along, the characters decide who gets killed off. I listen to their voices as the scenes come together and then decide if the death is necessary or not.

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Good question! I recently met a brand new author named Elizabeth SaFleur. We met at a conference in Manhattan. She just released her first BDSM erotic romance called Lovely. It’s very, very good! I laughed! I cried! I took a few cold showers! I’m super impressed and can’t wait to read more of her work.

Who do you look up to as a writer?
I pay attention to Angie Fox. She writes urban fantasy romance and paranormal romance like me. She’s also made a very successful career as an indie-pubbed author. I’ve met her and listened to her strategy and advice. She’s my role model! I also adore Roni Loren. Her books are pure gold. She’s mastered the deep POV, and I hope to be as talented as she is someday!

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book?
Nope. Not a thing. I am pretty happy with how it came together!

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
My books all have multiple plot lines woven through them. I don’t write straight up romance stories. There is always a dark current running through--a terrorist, a serial killer, demon possession, etc. I like to include a lot of twists and turns and action to test my characters and keep things exciting. Sometimes it’s challenging to tie up all loose ends by the end of the book. I am constantly making notes to remind myself to check and double check things.

What book are you reading now? Or what genre? My followers love author’s opinions!
Hmm. I just finished Serena’s Men by Elle Boon and just picked up Stargazing by Linda Gillard. Serena’s Men is a fun PNR ménage story--upbeat, funny, sexy! Stargazing was recommended by a close friend so I’m checking it out.  I don’t have a favourite genre, but I tend to lean towards paranormal and stay away from tearjerkers. I like funny or dark stories, but not sad ones.

Who designed the cover? And do you help with them?
My wonderful friend Angela Bauer does all of my covers and book materials. She and I went to graduate school together, and she lives just a few miles away. We collaborate on the covers. I come up with the overall mood/themes in the book, look for images I like, and then we sit down and talk about possible designs. She takes what I give her and makes magic happen. She’s really talented! Stone Angels won a cover contest in 2014. I’m lucky to have her!

Did you learn anything from writing your books and what was it?
All of the books are at least partially set in Manhattan. One of the things I learned about was the entire underground world that sits under the streets. It’s fascinating to look at the pictures of abandoned subway tunnels and other structures. Creepy and dark, they were perfect for my demons. Stone Angels and Darkness Calling are both set partially in Europe--London, Rome, and Vienna. I’ve visited the three cities for research and learned tons about architecture and history.

If you could be one of your characters, who would you chose?
I would love to be Mica---my heroine from The Lost Soul Trilogy. Why? Because she’s bad ass! She has endless energy to snowboard and hike, and has an impressive array of psychic abilities that give her an advantage over humans. Plus she’s a very good fighter--Krav Maga is her specialty. And let’s not forget that she’s got one, or two, wickedly hot Primani in her life. Mmm, Killian. Sigh.

Are there any books you think some of us should read, just because?
Yep! Iron Rods by Brenna Zinn. This is the perfect lazy afternoon read--Hilarious and steamy hot! The setting is a broken down male strip club in Austin, Texas. The characters are a hoot! This is a must read for instant escape!

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
I’d just like to say thank you for all of the support over the past year and a half! I live to please! I love chatting with readers so please feel free to reach out to me!
