Happy Book Birthday~ From the Ashes by Amber Lynn Natusch!!

From The Ashes CoverPiper Jones can't catch a break.

After a lifetime of animosity and indifference from the supernatural community, she thought she'd finally found a home with the vampire king’s enforcers. Then the dark and mysterious Merc walks into her life, and it takes a disastrous turn for the worse.

Now under attack by enemies both known and unknown, Piper has little choice but to flee her refuge—and start over in a place few vampires ever go. Rural Alaska seemed to fit the bill, except for Knox and his crew of werewolves. The pack shares a connection with Piper that few of them can explain, and none of them can escape.

With time running out for answers, Piper must fight the demons of her past to ensure her future—or die trying.

From The Ashes Teaser FINAL
My review

Wow!!! This was a fantastic book! I won't lie, it's heart breaking through most of it, but still awesome. Piper is a girl with a very rough past and a seriously messed up present. She's not human, but no one knows what she really is, including her. No one in the supernatural world wants her around, most try to kill her, but the vampire king takes her in. Here's she meets Jase and Dean. They are a hilarious set of brothers that are enforcers for the vampire King. I absolutely loved them. Then comes along Merc. He's something special and though Piper and Merc fall for each other it's not the happy ending everyone wanted!! So once again Piper ks trying to survive and is saved by the werewolf pack run by Knox. Ok so there's your gist... But I am leaving so very much out from the in between!! I can't spoil anything but I can say this is a great book.

I didn't realize who this author was at first, but I love her unborn series and I got my hands on her caged series which i will be reading ASAP! I happen to love the way this author writes. And her characters are perfectly flawed. By this I mean everything that can go wrong does. Lol but they are always willing to fight for survival. I loved loved loved the ending. Because I feel exactly as Piper, with secrets and mysteries out in the open, things need to settle, and Merc and Knox will be a very interesting pair to be around each other. And I'm so freaking pumped that everyone I wanted to live did and everyone I wanted to die did as well!! YES!! For extremely gratifying deaths lol

This plot was such an unpredictable ride. I had some assumptions but never assume. You'll be wrong. And I can't believe I didn't see some things coming but I didn't. And the award for favorite character for me- Griz!! Yeah I'm not saying a word but seriously he's my hero and a super cool way to have that character in the story! Now next up, the story itself. I loved it. I never put this one down. It's not short at all but I was completely captivated! It's a spectacular start to a series and I absolutely cannot wait for book two!! Gimme!!! 5 PAWS!!!!

About Amber Lynn Natusch

amber-plaqueAmber Lynn Natusch is the author of the bestselling Caged, as well as the Light and Shadow series with Shannon Morton. She was born and raised in Winnipeg, and speaks sarcasm fluently because of her Canadian roots. She loves to dance and sing in her kitchen—much to the detriment of those near her—but spends most of her time running a practice with her husband, raising two small children, and attempting to write when she can lock herself in the bathroom for ten minutes of peace and quiet. She has many hidden talents, most of which should not be mentioned but include putting her foot in her mouth, acting inappropriately when nervous, swearing like a sailor when provoked, and not listening when she should. She’s obsessed with home renovation shows, should never be caffeinated, and loves snow. Amber has a deep seeded fear of clowns and deep water…especially clowns swimming in deep water.
