Endangered (Daughter of Hades #1)
by Dani Hoots
Genre: YA Urban Fantasy
Release Date: May 13th 2016

Summary from Goodreads:

Chrys has been in the Underworld for thousands of years, hidden away by her father, Hades, from all of the other gods. He's afraid that if someone finds out about her, they will destroy her because of the dichotomous power that she holds, the power of life and death. So she has remained in the Palace of Hades all her life, making very few friends and always bored out of her mind.

Huntley would have never guessed that after he died he would wake up with a beautiful girl standing over him. And that she would be the Dark Lord of the Underworld's daughter. Yet, for some reason, she keeps him around as her tutor, as if he knows anything about the world. But Huntley knows that all she really wants is a friend; being trapped in the Underworld can get pretty lonely.

That is, until Chrys decides she wants to run away to the human world after a big fight with her mother Persephone. Chrys claims her father is just over reacting and that nothing bad will come of it. There's no way that the gods will notice she's there for only a couple of days...right?

My Review

Well I absolutely adore this book!!! Ok so I like Greek mythology. And here's the twist- Hades has a daughter- no one knows about- and she must stay a secret. Chrys is so much fun. She loves her dad- so do I- she does NOT like her mom- so do I- and she "rescued" a human as a companion. There's some great twists here. Hades is the good guy and Zeus and Poseidon aren't. They aren't bad per se just not nice and slightly man whores HA! But seriously, the don't know about Chrys and Hades is seriously determined to keep it that way. But Persephone is not your typical mom, I seriously didn't like her, and she does something that sends Chrys running from her home in the palace and to Earth.

Chrys is curious, she's never been anywhere, literally. And when she jumps at the chance, she'll find both wonderful and horrible things. Like new friends who will be allies and old friends who will become enemies. And she will find out a lot about herself. I thought she was sheltered and yet funny and brave and her relationship with Huntley is super fun! She may like him more than she realized, and he may love her, but neither are willing to risk Hades wrath so they are besties. It's quite funny their conversations. And the poker game with Hades, I'm yeah I'm totally not playing poker with the God of death! And I loved toward the ending meeting some of the others her age.

I liked the writing style and I think it flowed well. Sure, there's a few parts that could have been cut and a few I wish were elaborated on, but otherwise, I never put this one down. And the ending, well I see  something crazy happening in the future. I'm seriously rooting for Huntley and Chrys and I think Hades has earned a little revenge. And the betrayal, please let me beat him up for you!! So with that said- I'm super excited to read book two!! 5 PAWS!
